a list from nina

lukewarm chai tea
oolong tea, lots of it
chinese food restaurant
       down the street where
       everything comes in cool
       metal containers, just
       like I remember when I
       was little
soon-to-come visitors
the pink sunset over the
       city, reflecting off the
       water outside my apartment
watching dogs jump into
       the ocean
my daughter grace's
       little toenails
watermelon, cut-up and
       cold from the fridge
leaving sing-song
       messages on everyone's
       machines
grace's smiles in the
       morning when I go to
       pick her up from her crib
